| Lotus Elise 2011 |
The Lotus Elise is a two seat, rear-wheel drive, mid-engined roadster conceived in early 1994 and released in September 1996 by the English manufacturer Lotus Cars. The car has a hand-finished fiberglass body shell atop its bonded extruded aluminum chassis that provides a rigid platform for the suspension, while keeping weight and production costs to a minimum. The roadster is capable of speeds up to 240 km/h (150 mph). The Elise was named after Elisa, the granddaughter of Romano Artioli who was Chairman of Lotus at the time of the car's launch.
The Elise is a pure bred sports car and just when you thought it couldn't get any better, the 2011 Elise 1.6 liter engine produces an impressive 134bhp (136 PS) and CO2 emissions of 149 g/km which makes it the least polluting high-performance sports car in the world.
The exterior features a new evolution body design incorporating new front clamshell, rear bumper and engine cover
. Besides the front (grille) with ‘nostrils’ on either side, it has LED
running lights and a more pronounced rear diffuser not only help to freshen up the looks, but reduce drag by four per cent.
Attention to detail has always been at the heart of the Lotus ethos, the interior features still the same with its previous predecessors. Using only number of parts effectively engineered to suit only its given purpose.
One great thing with Lotus Elise now is its LOW CO2 Emission with only 149g/km. It will not just save you chunk of cash because of its engine fuel efficiency but help save mother nature as well for clean air living.
