Weekend Featured Review: 2012 BMW 1 Series

2012 BMW 1 Series
These past years, i just observed that hatchbacks are getting popular from the sub-compacts to high-end cars with the likes of Ferrari FF and Porsche Panamera and others. On the sub-compact side, the leading brand on the hatch segment is the Honda Fit (very popular in tuner world), the Toyota Echo or Yaris, the Mazda3 and the Ford Fiesta. So i just thought of searching on whats new on hatch segment of BMW which i just saw one upon walking along the Freeport area. What i am to talk about and share info is the least series of BMW that is BMW 1 Series.

BMW, the Bayerische Motoren Werke, has the word "motor" in its very name, and the brand used to be defined by a broad portfolio of excellent engines. In the past few years, that range has narrowed down to variations of 2.0-liter inline-four and 3.0-liter straight-six engines for most models, with the odd V-8, V-10, or V-12 powering upscale models. The face-lifted 1-series is a five-door hatchback, executes a radical break with the previous world of BMW engines: It will be powered exclusively by turbocharged four-cylinders.

As of the 2012 BMW 1-series, most features still the same but with the front-wheel-drive configuration. It so odd to see that this series of BMW decided to make it front-wheel-drive wherein most of its units are in rear-wheel-drive. No wonder critics and fans are divided into their opinions on this decision. Although, there's still an option if you wanted to get a front-wheel-drive or rear-wheel-drive configuration. If i am going to be asked which i will choose? I will go for RWD configuration merely because of more power and torque than the FWD.
