Pagani Zonda R

The Pagani Zonda is a mid-engined sports car produced by Pagani in Italy. It debuted in 1999, and production ended in 2011. As of June 2009, 206 Zondas had been built, including test mules. Both 2-seat coupe and convertible versions have been produced. Construction is mainly of carbon fiber.

The first Zonda was the C12 which debuted in 1999 at the Geneva Motor Show. It was powered by a Mercedes-Benz M120 V12 engine producing 389hp (290 kW; 394 PS) at 5200 rpm and 420 lb/ft (569 Nm) at 3800rpm mated to a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox. Just five of the original 6.0L Zondas were built until 2002 then C12 S was introduced.

Zonda S 7.3L was introduced as well in 2002 but with bigger V12 engine that was designed and manufactured by Mercedes-Benz AMG. Producing 547 hp (408 kW; 555 PS) and 553 lb/ft (750 N·m), to better handle the power, traction control and ABS were made standard. The new car is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 208 mph (335 km/h).

In 2003, Zonda Roadster was presented with limited number of units produced until 2005. Zonda F was debuted as well in 2005 with re-engineering added features like the car bodyworks and aerodynamic design. Then came Zonda Roadster F in 2006 with lighter body, Zonda Cinque introduced in 2008, Zonda Cinque Roadster in 2009 and the final mass produced Zonda was the Zonda Tricolore introduced in 2010.

In between Zonda Roadster and Zonda Cinque production, Zonda R was introduced in 2007. Zonda R was using 6.0L V12 engine sourced from the race version of the Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR. The Zonda R's competition lies with track-biased cars such as the Ferrari FXX and Maserati MC12 Corsa.
